Jermaine Jackson: Janet will open for us next year

Janet’s brother, Jermaine Jackson, has said in an interview with Australian Associated Press that the entire Jackson 5 will reunite next year for a new album and a tour. He has further stated that Janet will be the opening act – something that Janet has spoken about in previous interviews.

“It is just the timing, so what we’ve been doing is working on the music and all the logistics. It is going to be more like a family affair, Janet’s going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5 … Michael, Randy and the whole family. … We’re in the studio, we’re planning on being out there next year,” Jermaine said.

It is not yet known whether the show will actually go ahead as it has been spoken about for several months or what impact it will have on Janet’s possible plans to take her Rock Witchu Tour across the globe.

Janet’s manager speaks about illness

Janet’s manager Kenneth Crear has released a statement about the recent illness that has prevented Janet from touring. He said that Janet has been suffering from a vestibular migraine, a form of vertigo.

From E! Online:

Janet Jackson is ready to get this show on the road. For real. Supposedly.

According to her manager, the veteran pop star will be returning to her Rock Witchu tour Wednesday night at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., after being forced to postpone nine shows while she struggled with a previously undisclosed illness.

“After a thorough medical evaluation, it has been confirmed that Janet’s symptoms are being caused by a rare form of migraine called vestibular migraine or migraine-associated vertigo for which she is currently receiving treatment,” read a statement released by Jackson’s camp and obtained by E! News.

The “Together Again” singer has not performed since falling ill Sept. 29 during a sound check before a show in Montreal.

“Janet wanted very much to resume her tour so as not to disappoint her fans, but she continued to suffer from vertigo and could not perform,” her manager, Kenneth Crear, said.

“She’s a world-class entertainer and needs to be at the top of her game to give her fans the show they expect.  She’s feeling much better and is ready to hit the road again to finish the tour.”

Shows scrapped in Montreal, Philadelphia, Boston, Greensboro, N.C., Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Uncasville, Conn., Verona, N.Y., and Manhattan are being rescheduled. Disgruntled ticket holders have been asked to hang onto their stubs, which will be honored at the rescheduled dates.
