In a message posted to his website today, Tyler Perry has confirmed that shooting on his latest project featuring Janet is now complete. In it, he also states that the film “Why Did I Get Married?” is now scheduled for release in October 2007. Previous announcements put a release date somewhere around February 2008.

I have been so crazy busy that I haven’t had a chance to write in a while. I just finished shooting the new movie, WHY DID I GET MARRIED? Just wait . . . you just wait.

Can I tell you that I love Jill Scott? That is the kind of woman that can smile and end a war. Really she is unbelievable. And Janet Jackson has to be the most professional superstar that I have ever worked with. She was the first one there and the last one to leave–always on time and no drama. These women put it down! I’ll talk more about the rest of the cast later, but this was the best time that I have had making a movie yet. We’re looking to release it in October of this year.

Janet is reported to be starring in an upcoming movie alongside Tyler Perry, Jill Scott and Sharon Leal. The film, based on the Perry’s stage play of the same name, will be called “Why Did I Get Married?”.

According to Variety Magazine, the fourth film in Perry’s lucrative franchise revolves around a couple who go away with friends every winter to examine their marriages in a group setting. One of the wives brings along a sexy young temptress who causes plenty of trouble for the couples.

Perry is writing, directing and producing for Lionsgate and the film starts shooting on March 5th in Whistler, British Columbia; Vancouver and then Atlanta.

Despite rumours that dates for Janet’s upcoming tour would be released on Valentine’s Day, this has not taken place. In a new posting to his blog, choreographer and friend Gil Duldulao hinted that the release of the dates and perhaps even the tour itself will be postponed due to matters getting caught up in red tape. Watch this space.

Tonight Grammy’s show will see Janet in the running for Best Contemporary Album with her latest 20 Y.O. But Janet isn’t the only of her former touring group that is up for a Grammy. Remember Rebecca Valadez, backing singer on the Velvet Rope Tour? She’s in the running for best Tejano album with her self-titled album. Good luck to both.
