Interview with Janet on 1Xtra
Janet appeared on BBC Radio 1Xtra when she was last in the UK for promotion. In the interview she talks about her relationship with Mariah Carey, Tupac Shakur and much more. Listen to the interview now.
So Excited to get UK release
The second single from 20 Y.O. will get a UK release. So Excited will be released in the UK on November 27th.
“‘So Excited’ is how I feel about this entire project”, Janet says in her quietly enthusiastic way. “I’m excited that Jimmy and Terry and I have worked together for so long and so well. I’m excited that Jermaine, who is my heart, has added his own genius to the mix. I’m excited to mark an anniversary of an artistic career that has been my life and my joy. And I’m excited—and so lucky—to have fans whose devotion has sustained me over two amazing decades”.
Janet has specially customised and signed a pair of Dr. Marten shoes for a British AIDS charity. The National AIDS Trust will benefit from the money that is raised from the auction that will take place on eBay starting tomorrow.
Doc Martens boots customised by stars such as Madonna and Mick Jagger are to be auctioned for charity.
The items will appear on eBay from today to mark the start of National Giving Week.
Boots signed by All Saints, Oasis and Janet Jackson are among the 25 pairs going on sale.
The customised and signed Dr Martens boots were originally part of a collection put together for World Aids Day in 1998.
National Giving Week is organised by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) to encourage people to give something up and donate the saved money to charity instead.
CAF spokeswoman Sheila Hooper said: “If people raid their wardrobes, cupboards and attics to find items they no longer need but could sell on eBay for a favoured organisation, we can make a real difference.”
Money raised through the week-long eBay sale goes to various different charities.
Funds raised via the Doc Martens boot collection will go to the National Aids Trust.
A new remix for Janet’s current single So Excited featuring Khia, JD, Fatman Scoop and Fabolous can be heard now at UrbanBridgez.com.
Janet to start tour in the US
In an interview with Associated Press Television News (APTN) on Wednesday at Paris Fashion Week, Janet said that she is likely to start her tour in the US in March.
It’s been incredible. I mean I love France. To be able to view as many shows as I have thus far… and I am trying to see as much as I possibly can this week because I don’t know when I will have the opportunity to do this again
What do you think of all the metallics coming back and the very short length in the skirts?
Well, I think it is beautiful on the models. I don’t know what they will look like on me… So, we’ll see. I don’t know if I could carry that off.
How are you feeling with the release of your new album?
“Oh, I am feeling very well. Thank you.”
Do you have any concerts coming up? Will you be playing in France?
I am sure we will. The tour actually starts in March but I think we are going to start in America.
Janet stands with the ‘common-folk’
Janet was mentioned in The Times today in their diary about Paris Fashion Week. It appears that Janet arrived late for a recent show and because there was a strict rule about latecomers, she stood at the back with everyone else.
After Janet Jackson and her minder (or should we call him man mountain?) trekked around the Balenciaga, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood collections on Tuesday they finally arrived at the Dior show although about ten minutes too late. Cue lots of hissing from the photographers as they tried to take their seats while models were coming down the catwalk. Trying to seat them (even at the behest of the chief poncho of security) proved impossible but a smiling Jackson was happy to stand and watch the rest of the show to the delight of the shutter bugs nearby. This ain’t no diva. Perhaps when you’re sharing a room with John Galliano, you can’t compete with the showman par excellence although last night instead of strutting his stuff down the catwalk he actually took a more modest bow.
